Halloween is in the air and we will be bringing it in with style, starting with a Doll Show featuring hand-crafted Voodoo Dolls created by local artist, Donnie Johnson. Each one has it’s own distinct personality. There will be at least 10 dolls attending the Art Walk. Sizes will vary, the smallest are 8″ and the largest will be 48″ tall.
We will have some lovely goodies from Cupcake Blues that will be arriving around 5 p.m. Who knows what other surprises we may have in the store that day.
Interview with a Voodoo Doll Creator
When asked about his creations, this is what Donnie had to say.;
I have been involved in the Arts most of my life, being a mixed media artist I work in many mediums, from finer arts to digital arts and fiber arts. Sewing is yet another art form that I love. To me it’s a canvas to create from. So my work can vary drastically from whimsical and surrealistic to dark and macabnre, I never know what I’m working on until I am done. And my voodoo dolls are no exception, each one has a personality of its own and they take form as I work on them. Some dolls take a few hours to come to life where others take days. They are an adventure to create. To me they are not toys, each one is a little piece of art and a part of me. My art is my love and my life. ~Donnie Johnson, Artist
